Image Reflection

Assignment for my computer class, took a photo of Alyson Hannigan and created a reflection underneath. Alyson is a great actress, she played Willow Rosenburg in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Great show!!

Yoshitaka Amano

This man…..THIS MAN. Yoshitaka Amano is famous for many things but mainly for his illustrations for the Final Fantasy franchise. His concept sketches and massive paintings for the series are incredible and I’d argue to say he’s the best video game concept artist in the world.

Some people might not take video game art very seriously but when you see Amano’s beautiful paintings, they speak for themselves.

I’ve been a fan of his work for so many years and my appreciation never stops growing! His other works include Tatsunoko related art, Vampire Hunter D and Sandman. If you havn’t played a Final Fantasy game before, GO PLAY ONE.

Takeshi Obata

This is one of my favorite comic book artists, Japanese manga ka Takeshi Obata! His most popular work is illustrating the manga Death Note. His other works include Hikaru no Go, Blue Dragon Ral Grad, Bakuman, and even some video game illustration, such as the Wii game Castlevania Judgement.

His art has changed a lot over time and he’s developed a fantastically dark style. Recently though, his current series Bakuman is a much more cheerful story than Death Note and his drawing style has continued to evolve.

This above image is FANTASTIC and shows the evolution of his manga. The top image is from Cyborg Grandpa G Chan.

Check out this man’s manga, he’s teamed up with some great writers!

Memory Board Project

I recently did a huge project for my drawing class, it’s a large technical drawing in graphite of a board with items on it. Check it out if you want! 😀

Some more work!

Here’s two more photoshop assignments. The first is an altered image of one of Cindy Sherman’s Untitled Film Stills. Sherman was a popular artist who made a long series of self photographs over the course of a few years.

The second is one of my own pictures, a photo of my cat, Billy. It’s been altered to look like a painting. He’s the coolest animal I’ve ever known.

More to come soon!

Happy Chinese New Year!!

I made this picture in photoshop, it’s an altered image of Shenlong from Dragonball!!

I’d like to share some pictures of my favorite Renaissance artist, Michelangelo Buonarroti. I’ve always admired Renaissance art but never knew much about it until last year when I started doing a lot of book and internet research about it. If you’re really into art or very new to art history, I think the Renaissance is something everyone can appreciate.

I’m sure you recognize the sculpture above? One of the most recognized pieces of art, Michelangelo’s David gets hundreds of visitors every day. Unlike traditional depictions of David showing his victory, Michelangelo sculpted him in the pivotal moment before the battle when he’s sizing up his opponent.

This powerful sculpture is his pieta, depicting the moment that Jesus is taken down from the cross and held in Mary’s arms. This piece was made to be viewed from any angle around the sculpture.

I’m sure you’ve heard of The Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo spent many years of his life painting the walls and ceiling of this beautiful structure.

If you want to see the COOLEST THING EVER, check out this site ->

This is a 3D viewer application of the Sistine Chapel, it can be viewed on an internet browser, no download required! I really want to visit the chapel sometime in my life but until then this is a great substitute.

I encourage you to look up more of Michelangelo’s art in your free time and be amazed!
